This is certainly a huge topic, and one could probably write a PhD thesis on it. I think many companies face this exact dilemma of what to choose. We’d like to share our experience, our impressions, and… a little bit of disappointment.
Every single one of our vans/teams is equipped with an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
Over the past few years, we’ve purchased three different models of this vital, life-saving device.
➡️ Device #1 – The first device we had the chance to test looked great on paper: neat, compact, and ideal for our work and field conditions. We bought 7 of them. Recently, however, we received news that this medical device is being recalled from the market. Naturally, communication with the manufacturer is no longer smooth sailing, while the replacement product is currently unavailable with no ETA in sight. ☹
➡️ Device #2 – Purchased earlier this year, another promising model. Nice, modern housing—looked very high-end. Two months in, two out of the three units stopped working ☹ (Well… these things happen). Contact with the distributor was quick enough. We shipped them back for service and… waited about two months to get them back repaired. (Of course, not without dozens of emails and phone calls). But they’ve been working error-free for a while now, so hopefully all will be well.
➡️ Device #3 – Brand spanking new, fresh out of the box today. 😊 Looks sleek: neat, compact, handy, and came with a free carrying case. 😊 The manual is very clear and easy to follow. It has an IP65 rating (dust and water resistance), and the brochure features a nice tagline: "Reinforced design ensures durability in extreme working conditions..." We’ll hold them to that! 😊 Photos attached.
Feel free to share your experiences with us. Maybe there's a product you've been using for years that has proven utterly reliable? Naturally, we mean something portable for field work, not an expensive ornament locked away on the CEO's office wall. 🙃
No matter how many trials lie ahead, we will not stop equipping our crews with life-saving gear. We wish for both ourselves and you that these devices are never needed. We are grateful to their creators for inventing them—we just want to be sure that if the moment comes, the gear works flawlessly.
